  • This is an area of relatively high ground, achieving heights of over 340m. It comprises large fields of improved pastures and rough grazing, widely dispersed farms and small pockets of coniferous plantations.There are currently 33 HERs , 2 SAMs and 1 LB in the area, primarily relating to Post medieval settlements and Bronze Age barrows.

  • Maintenance of existing access, and landscape features integral to the appreciation of the historic landscape (such as field boundaries and traditional agricultural management), are appropriate. Change of settlement pattern and agricultural management may be inappropriate. Maintain and restore traditional field boundaries, control stock levels in areas of extant archaeological remains to ensure balance between management of scrub growth, overgrazing and erosion of historic structures etc. Maintain traditional appearance of dwellings and agricultural buildings.
